The Haymond: An Investigation We'll Never Forget

Our first trip to the Haunted Haymond House was filled with unknowns.

At the time, Forgotten Explorations was still relatively green in the paranormal field. This investigation would mark several firsts for our team: our first investigation outside of our home state and our first-ever two-night investigation.

We had no idea what we were walking into.

And that was exactly how we wanted it.

Night One: Going in Blind

When we arrived at the Haymond, we knew absolutely nothing about the property.

No history. No names. No stories about previous experiences. No known hotspots.

Nothing.

We wanted our first night to be completely blind so that anything we captured couldn’t be influenced by information we’d been given beforehand.

Despite knowing nothing about the house, the activity that first night was incredible.

But it was the following day that everything began to change.

Day Two: Learning the History

On the second day, the owner of the property, Teresa, came to the house to meet with us.

She gave us a history tour of the property and finally began filling in some of the blanks. We learned about the house, areas that seemed to produce the most activity, experiences previous guests had reported, and evidence that had been captured over the years.

After spending our entire first night completely blind, we finally had some context for what we had been experiencing.

Then came Night Two.

And one experience from that night would become something Jacob and Eiji still talk about years later.

The Footsteps on the Third Floor

During an Estes Method session, Austin was under Estes while Jacob and Eiji sat nearby asking questions.

Everything started normally.

Then Jacob and Eiji heard something above them.

Footsteps.

The sound appeared to be coming from the third floor of the property—the area that once served as the original owner, Mr. Haymond’s office.

They listened as the footsteps moved across the floor above them.

Closer.

And closer.

Until they reached the threshold of the staircase directly in front of where Jacob and Eiji were sitting.

Then they stopped.

The house went completely silent.

Jacob and Eiji waited.

And from the staircase came a sound neither of them was prepared for.

A growl.

Not a creak.

Not the house settling.

A growl.

It came directly from the staircase in front of them.

What made the experience even more unsettling was what we would later learn: Teresa and other guests had reportedly experienced something similar inside the house.

We hadn’t gone into the investigation expecting it.

We weren’t trying to recreate someone else’s experience.

We heard it ourselves.

We Slept in the Car That Night

That experience shook us enough that when the investigation ended, we made a decision that probably tells you everything you need to know about how that night felt.

We slept in the car instead of sleeping inside the house.

After traveling out of state specifically to spend two nights investigating the property, the Haymond had managed to convince us that sleeping in a cramped vehicle sounded like the better option.

To this day, Jacob and Eiji consider that growl and the footsteps leading up to it one of the most terrifying experiences they’ve had during our journey as paranormal investigators.

And considering the places we’ve investigated since then, that says a lot. It’s also one of the biggest reasons the Haunted Haymond House continues to sit at #1 on both Jacob and Eiji’s Top 5 most haunted loc

ations.

Years later, we’ve gained more experience. We’ve investigated more locations. We’ve walked into places with stories that would make most people turn around at the front door.

But you never forget the investigation that genuinely scared you.

For us, The Haunted Haymond House is one of those places.

And soon…

Forgotten Explorations returns to the Haymond.
