What We Know:

The Wildwood Sanitarium in Salamanca, New York, dates back to around 1900 and was purchased by osteopathic physicians Dr. John Henderson and Dr. Carroll Perry, who developed it into a private holistic healing center. Officially opened in the early 1900s, the facility offered treatments such as therapeutic baths, light therapy, electric-bath treatments, and other forms of osteopathic and homeopathic care. In 1923, as tuberculosis spread throughout the country, the facility was required by the state to transition into a tuberculosis clinic. Following the deaths of both doctors in 1941, the building eventually left its medical past behind and was converted into apartments during the 1950s, remaining residential for several decades. After periods of vacancy and deterioration, the property was purchased by the current owners in 2017, who began an ongoing restoration effort to preserve the historic building. Today, Wildwood operates as a historic and paranormal destination, offering history tours and investigations while continuing efforts to restore the property and preserve its unique past.

Our First Encounter

In 2025, we traveled to Wildwood Sanitarium after hearing countless reports of it being one of the most haunted locations on the East Coast. When we first arrived, however, the building seemed almost ordinary a quiet house filled with personal belongings and objects left behind by the many visitors who had passed through its doors. But that sense of normalcy quickly disappeared once the investigation began.

We divided into three separate teams, with each team taking a different floor of the building. Austin and Jacob began their investigation on the first floor, where they would soon capture one of the most incredible pieces of evidence of the night.

They were using a device designed to play music whenever it detected motion. What made the device particularly interesting was that investigators could select which song it would play from a list of options. As they continued investigating, Austin casually remarked, “If the song changes, that would be absolutely insane.”

Almost immediately after he said it, the song suddenly changed midway through the track.

The timing was so precise that it stopped everyone in their tracks. Austin had just verbalized exactly what would make the device’s behavior extraordinary, and moments later, it appeared to happen right in front of them.
