What We Know:

The Haymond House in Sutton, West Virginia, was built in 1894 for prominent attorney and businessman William Edgar Haymond. The Queen Anne–style home became an important part of Sutton’s history and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Over the years, stories of strange noises, shadowy figures, voices, and apparitions have given the house a reputation for being haunted. Paranormal investigators have reported unexplained experiences and alleged EVPs inside the home. Today, the Haymond House is known both for its historical significance and its connection to local ghost lore.

Our First Encounter

In February 2022, our group traveled outside the state of Virginia for the very first time to investigate the Haymond House. We arrived with no prior knowledge of the property’s history and didn’t learn about its past until the second day of our trip.

Before Teresa, the property owner, shared the history with us, we described everything we had experienced and captured during our first night. To our surprise, she was able to confirm the history behind each piece of evidence we had recorded.

Evidence we have captured includes:

  • Audible footsteps in the attic, including around Mr. Haymond’s office

  • Growling sounds seemingly coming from different corners of the attic

  • K2 meter spikes in reported “hot spots” throughout the house

  • Intelligent responses to questions directed toward the spirits believed to remain in the home

Rachel Bradley

"The Human-to-Spirit interaction at this location not only leaves you with questions answered but also answers desired."

Jacob Hunter

"Once the lights go out, I no longer feel alone in the house."

Christa Reeder

"It holds an old, timeless energy that definitely remembers faces."
